BBC Science Focus affiliate links
What are affiliate links?
Affiliate links connect retailers and publishers. If someone clicks on a shopping link on a publisher site like BBC Science Focus, a cookie is enabled to allow the retailer to associate any purchase back to the publisher so that they can take a percentage of the revenue.
How does it work on BBC Science Focus?
The affiliate links on BBC Science Focus are powered by our partners Monetizer 101, Skimlinks and Amazon Associates.
Skimlinks works by aggregating over 65 affiliate networks and over 27,000 affiliate programmes to connect a publisher, such as BBC Science Focus, with a retailer. It turns existing retailer links on BBC Science Focus into their equivalent affiliate links. Similarly, Amazon tracks purchases through affiliate links logged in its Associates dashboard.
Monetizer 101 provides price comparison widgets to give our users a way of quickly comparing and exploring multiple retailers who sell the products we have reviewed.
How do I buy the products online?
If you decide to purchase a product that’s been recommended in our guides, you are able to do so by clicking through to your desired retailer to make a purchase on their website. When you do this, a new window will open and you will be taken to a third party site that’s completely separate to BBC Science Focus. No purchase will be made directly on the BBC Science Focus website.
Is BBC Science Focus writing reviews based on its affiliate partnerships?
Absolutely not. Our affiliate partners in no way influence BBC Science Focus editorial content. Products reviewed are chosen first-hand and solely by the BBC Science Focus team, and will feature regardless of whether or not affiliate partners are able to generate commission from a retailer link.
