The Unfixed Stars

Books
Manufacturer: Picador

Michael Byers’s new novel The Unfixed Stars draws on the story of the American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh who, in 1930 at the age of 24, discovered the (now) dwarf planet Pluto. The book is, by the author’s own admission, fiction but if you’re familiar with some of the history behind Pluto’s discovery then you’ll recognise some famous real names and settings like the Lowell Observatory in Arizona.

It’s an interesting and enjoyable take on the tale of the young man who found one of the Solar System’s most famous inhabitants.
