Surrogates

Though in one sense just another Hollywood science fiction flick, this film does pose some interesting questions about how we use technology. In this future, humans live their lives through robotic avatars called surrogates. While we’re safe at home, they walk around doing everything for us without the risk, while the ‘experience’ is beamed back to our minds. But something goes wrong with this cosy set-up and Bruce Willis has to save the world (again). Before he does, we’re left to wonder if we’re more active through social networking sites and such than we are in what we used to call ‘real life’.
