The brainchild of iPod creator Tony Fadell, the Nest Labs Learning Thermostat is a ‘smart’ device designed to cut fuel bills and reduce your carbon footprint. As you turn the heating up and down, it learns when your house needs warming up and sets the most efficient heating schedule for your home. You can adjust it remotely from your PC or via a mobile app, and the manufacturer says it will pay for itself within 18 months.
