Encounters at the End of the World

New rule: Werner Herzog should only make documentaries from now on. Encounters, like his last factual piece Grizzly Man, is astonishingly good. This time Herzog focuses on McMurdo, Antarctica. Here we see the lives of seals, penguins, and the humans who have made their homes there.

There’s an amazing landscape to ogle, but also a cast of eccentrics and scientists, some of whom explore the ocean by blasting a hole in the ice and diving through. Science this thrilling is not to be missed.
