Crysis 2

Aliens have laid waste to New York City in this first-person shooter, leaving improbably named hero Alcatraz fighting the invaders and human mercenaries in the rubble. At least he’s dressed for the occasion, clad in a powerful ‘nanosuit’ that provides him with invisibility, enhanced agility and heavy-duty armour. But these powers drain the suit’s energy and must be used strategically, which determines the way you approach the game’s urban spaces. You can sneak through and get the drop on unwary foes, or charge in with guns blazing, but only for as long as your armour holds out.
Like its predecessor (which was only available on PC), Crysis 2 is visually impressive, from eye-widening explosions to the slick shimmer of your stealthy super-suit. New York looks great, with towering skyscrapers, smashed roads and city parks a welcome change of scenery from the battlefields of recent military shooter games.
The single-player story mode is gratifyingly tough and peppered with cinematic spectacle, while the substantial online multiplayer suite offers fast, exciting action via tactically customised nanosuits.
