You’re a policeman in the near future and a group of hoodlums are causing trouble. What are you going to do? Pick up the nearest car and throw it at them – problem solved. As a cybernetic member of The Agency, this is exactly what you’ll be able to do in Crackdown 2 to rid Pacific City of crime.
The scale of the city is impressive and it’s yours to explore – alone or, now, with up to four others online. Gangs go marauding by day, while groups of mutants cause anarchy by night. They can be dispatched with a host of weapons, including a nifty UV gun for the mutants, who aren’t too fond of daylight. And magnetic grenades are a hilarious way to take out vehicles, flinging them around like toys. You start with a fledgling agent who soon becomes a killing machine as abilities such as strength and agility are upgraded. This is achieved by collecting orbs that boost certain attributes. Increase your agility, for instance, and you’ll be able to leap further and higher to reach previously inaccessible orbs. The sequel also has new orbs that run away from you – a nice touch.
The comic book-like graphics are an acquired taste, but pick this one up if you want to teach hoodies what ‘catching the bus’ is really all about
