Asus has crammed an entire computer inside a keyboard. Doing so allows you to convert your TV into a PC so you can browse the web, watch online videos and display digital photos in the comfort of your living room. It connects to the internet over Wi-Fi and talks to your telly via a wireless receiver plugged into the TV. Signals can be sent using ultrawideband technology, which has a range of over five metres, or through an HDMI cable for high-def movies.
More compact than an all-in-one desktop machine, the Eee Keyboard PC is about as powerful as a netbook, runs Windows and has a 5in touchscreen panel for accessing files and controlling the computer.
So we have come a complete circle!
In the dawn of personal computer time, TV was the monitor or the screen of choice and the keyboard (with or without a separate box, think Sinclair) was the computer! So now we are back in the same thing again, connecting our keyboard PC to our TVs. Wow, it only took what 25+ years to get back to where we started? What do they invent next? ;-)
