Intelligence is hard enough to measure in humans, let alone in animals. Dogs can be trained to perform quite complex tasks and show a great deal of loyalty and attachment to their owners, whereas cats will often have dinner in several houses in the same street and refuse to learn tricks. It is open to some debate which behaviour shows more intelligence.
