Velikovsky was deduction based on science

He is usually attacked for his other books where he posits Venus 'arrived' because that is not confirmable. Of course, neither is our speculation about accretion. Many scientists of the time had other opinions other than accretion; in fact in 2011 scientists declared accretion out and compression in. Which sounds to me like gravity out and electromagnetism in.
His book Earth in Upheaval has research done by established scientists that is hard to refute. The compression of coal beds for example. There was just no known method for his projections to happen. As S W Carey said when queried as to the reason behind Earth expansion, he replied he did not know, and rightly could not be expected to know as the science to explain it had not yet been invented.
Our historical appearance on Earth has changed not just remotely, but recently. You can find on the net information as to humanity's sudden gain in intelligence as demonstrated by their 'tool kit.' I suspect that eventually humanity's great leap forward at 50,000 ya will be the moment. Cave art has now been brought to nearly that and I believe that is the bell-wether date that defines us as in now.
When you add global weather catastrophe in at periodic and repeated cycles (myth) then is is plain that humanity's achievements have been subject the the inviolate Second Law.
The temporary heliospheric compression that is heating gases and planetary cores is but the face of this cycle. Our scientific insight that allows the understanding of such incomplete experiments as table top fusion and dna light changes are due solely to this ephemeral phenomena. Due to end 2013.

Is there a point to all that? Seems little more than a series of not entirely connected statements to be honest.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.
