Ants

Postby nemisis1960 » May 23rd, '12, 20:59

Is this going to be the year of the ant, as at the moment were plagued with them? We have never had them this early. I know the weather is clement for them at the moment due to it being so hot, but if it carries on the way it is I’m doomed i tell yer doomed. Last year it was daddy long legs (as the kids call them) and that was a nightmare

And it shall come to pass that we will also be plagued by a multitude of wasps and crane flies and Ladybirds and Thrips and we shall have three long summers of drought and high temperatures and much angst when it is then cold and wet and we shall be sorely tried..........

It's a weather cycle thing, and I've seen it all before, best get used to it. ;)

Well you can always try the WMD option.

Seeing as this is the year the Mayan calendar runs out and the end is near  , these ants are probably one of Gods deadly plagues (anybody hear any loud trumpet sounds?),

As if that wasn't enough, it seems that the method of our destruction is drawing near in the form of 3 giant spaceships approaching Earth.

Three giant spaceships are heading towards Earth. The largest one of them is 240 kilometers wide. Two others are smaller. At present, the objects are beyond the orbit of Pluto.

The spaceships were detected by HAARP search system. The system, based in Alaska, was designed to study the phenomenon of northern lights. According to SETI researchers, the objects are nothing but extraterrestrial spaceships. They will be visible in optical telescopes as soon as they reach Mars's orbit. The US government has been reportedly informed about the event. The ships will reach Earth in December 2012.

All this from the highly respected Pravda

Good lords that's absurd but scan the other headlines and we've banking in the Aquarian age or that Carter of all people is a mass murderer! So I'm guessing journalistic integrity and reality are not terribly important at Pravda these days and thus often absent.

I liked the nod to SETI for breaking the story sans naming anyone or even linking to their amazing revelation, which is of course because the SETI site makes absolutely no mention of anything remotely like impending alien arrival. Oh I know, they did make the release but then the government took it down before anyone could archive the page.

HAARP is of course mentioned merely because it just sounds so sciencey and is also a favourite in conspiracy circles. Quite how an atmospheric research site turns into a deep space sensor platform is a tad puzzling, especially as those given to conspiracies have accused the site as actually being some kind of weapon to knock down planes. The site also has nothing whatsoever to do with SETI, guess the paper was just looking for any old some way relevant acronyms to toss together.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.
