Venus to Appear in Once-In-A-Lifetime Event

Postby Shadowwolf » May 1st, '12, 23:53

On 5 and 6 June this year, millions of people around the world will be able to see Venus pass across the face of the Sun in what will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It will take Venus about six hours to complete its transit, appearing as a small black dot on the Sun's surface, in an event that will not happen again until 2117.

I'm going to build a solar filter and try and get some pictures. If it's not too cloudy!

And it happened in 2004, so not strictly once in a life time!

It will indeed King Random. ;)

However make sure you use proper equipment when viewing this event and never look directly at the sun especially through and unfiltered telescope.

Today is day one, I know, not because of the calendar but because yesterday was relatively clear and today it's cloudy and raining.

And it happened in 2004, so not strictly once in a life time!

True if you were born prior to the last event and it is also the last time it's going to happen during any of our lifetimes.
