Shadowolf, Im curious if you have seen the latest Horizon episode about the holographic principal for our universe? What are your thoughts on it if you have?

Alas I was not even aware that it was on so no I did not see it. However I may be able to see it via their online repeat, I'll get back to you.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.

Seems to have made quite an impact.

Personally I don't think it works. ;)

It doesn't - though I speak of the media player and not the theory - not in my region. :x

Forgive me for butting in, but, and I may well be missing something significant here, but as I understand it a holographic universe would be composed entirely of light, and as light has no mass, well, I'm left wondering, where does gravity come from? :?

A holographic universe is still composed of quantum bits, and a bit may not have mass, but it does have area, which due to quantum flunctuations in spatial positions causes entropy. The picture that emerges is that of a gravitational attraction (acceleration defined by a gravitational potential) that results from a tendency of physical systems to evolve such that the holographically available bits saturate with information. This tendency towards bit saturation is an entropic effect, that we experience as gravitational attraction. I hope that answers your query M Paul. Its all covered in the book, I really recommend you read it :)

One would think so but other demands keep impinging like all the coursework I've had to complete, impending exams and seeing to more immediate concerns. I'll hopefully get around to seeing if it's up on Youtube soon, because if it is not there I won't see it given that the player is not active for my region.

I'm afraid I am with Mr.S on this, not so much through weight of study but the day job and its demands does rather impinge. Sorry. :?
