Shipwreck in Baltic Sea? A UFO? Mystery to Treasure Hunters

Postby MikeG » Jan 31st, '12, 19:43

If this is a wreck, what kind of+ ship would leave a circular footprint? Or do you believe this is a natural formation on the seafloor?

I'd seen mention of this but had little info and no picture, not that I really know what I'm looking at any way and the guys are quite forward about such side sonar images being not the most accurate.

To be honest it is pretty much impossible to tell anything at this point without further investigation of the sea-floor which may or may not happen. You can bet that certain folks are making a lot 'o' hay with this one and if it turns out to be an oddly shaped rock they'll cry cover-up.

Looks like an eroded boulder to me. Given the Baltic Sea was formed by glaciation, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of imagination.

It kind of reminds me of some millstone grit type stuff around here.

What's funny is that it really does look like the Millenium Falcon. Maybe George Lucas is pulling a fast one before the re release of Star Wars in 3 D as a promotional stunt

It's large -- 197 feet in diameter -- and it's in about 275 feet of water. Leading to (or from) it is a churned-up track on the sea floor of about 1,600 feet.

So i take it they are presuming that whatever it is crashed on the sea floor and slid 1,600 feet, if its 197 feet in diameter then something that big sliding that far would surely gouge out a bigger trough through the sea bed and leave debris scattered in its trail.

Admittedly it’s a poor picture so there well could be more information to be found shame they have no funds for the submersible. So unless their request for funding from a TV company proves fruitless then it could be a non-starter

That Mr MikeG, sounds entirely plausible.

Looks more like the under-construction Death Star to me.

You just know its going to be something totally boring and not what they wanted to find. Probably a hydrated and decayed dog biscuit! ;)

If its in 275 feet of water, then I'm surprised that it has left any trail at all. If it is something that actually fell in the water, it must have been moving at an incredible velocity to dig up the seabed. The chances are though, that the "track" and the object are probably unrelated.

Exactly! It wants to be found by a hungry dog, who thinks its a biscuit and then the Emperor will say "Welcome to my fully operational dog biscuit thingy!"
