With reference to the above post i was confused it was the leonid that pan was having problems with but would still work with perseids i suppose

Pandora
Well if its anything like the last five blinkin years, it will be a wash out here. Every year I promise myself we will go to the Canary Islands or somewhere hot with guaranteed clear skies in August, every year I forget lol.

Here's hoping it will be, clear and a good night for Perseids viewing

Nemisis
hmmm every time could the shower be disrupting the weather round were you live pan or is it just a fact that your never ever going to see this

News Flash

Canary Island officials stated today that, with the coincidence of Pandora from the focus forum web site arriving on the island to observe the Perseids shower over the next few days. The staff at the islands weather centre have forecast heavy cloud, wind and rain for the next few days local weather man Bob Johnson is quoted as saying
This is very unusual weather for the island at this time of year
in other news a British airways pilot reported that a storm front seemed to be following his flight from the British isles main land to the island today something that he is quoted as saying has never happened before in his aviation history

I remember that, Nem, you evil man

I shall be in the UK for the Perseids, and there will - I have no doubt - be a repeat of the last four years weather. A deluge and thick cloud on the night of the meteor shower.

Thanks to @@ for the reminder. Hope you are not on earlies :(

don't despair, right now, 22.54 BST, things are just begining to improve. just poped out to check visibility. still quite a bit of broken patchy cloud around but good large areas of clear sky and 2 decent, very fast, meteors through the back end of cygnus one after the other within a couple of mins :D keep your fingers crossed

Wall to wall rain and thick low cloud here for the last 48 hours. It looks like November out there.

Are we able to see them tomorrow - Saturday night? The forecast is clear(ish) here for that evening.
