The Corkscrew Tank:

Only problem is, although it can go 'all terrain' it can't go on the road! :)

That's the problem with 'all terrain' vehicles they usually can't. ;)

When you say "vehicle" do you mean any specific surface craft or can we include submarines, aeroplanes or spacecraft?
Because I have a list.

Supposedly, this particular Chinese city is sitting on a huge cache of rare earths, wich allow maglev technology to work without special roads  if that was true, this city would be mega rich, not full of rickshaws, pedestrians and barely running relics of cars.

I wonder how the vehicles on board electronics manage in such a high intensity magnetic field, or indeed any electronic equipment within this miraculous City?

Right then.

North American X-15 ... no manned spaceplane (at least no true Spaceplane) has ever reached such altitude or velocity.

Lockheed A-12 (single seat precursor to the SR-71 'Blackbird') ... no manned air breathing jet propelled aircraft has ever flown so high or so fast.

BAE Systems (ne Vickers) Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank, just an amazing piece of kit.

USS Nimitz Nuclear powered Aircraft carrier......... Nothing comes close

USS Skipjack Class Nuclear Submarine, the fastest boat for five decades ... hell we made some cool stuff back in the 50's.

I have more but I'm short on time. Laters... ;)

Apollo Saturn V, biggest rocket ever flown by anyone, ever, sent man to the Moon and put Skylab into orbit... just awesome.

But if we are talking purely land vehicles well...... this is the one is truely awesome.

And the Marilyn Manson soundtrack on the U-tube link is totally appropriate.

Thrust SSC.

At the moment, it is the world's fastest car!

(So important it has it's own website!: http://www.thrustssc.com/)

The recently retired Shuttle, sure it wasn't the most perfect system and not the vehicle envisaged when the project began but it was still the only space vehicle of its kind and damn awesome looking going up and coming back down.

Typhoon and their counterpart Ohio class SSBNs, now I'm not sure if the word awesome is the most appropriate for this kind of vessel given the destruction they can unleash but they're still quite impressive from a purely academic perspective.

F14 Tomcat, not the worlds most spectacular plane but personally I find it to be one of the coolest looking pieces of military aviation ever built, the A10 Thunderbolt running a very close second.

Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird

I think the single seat A-12 version (as below) was possibly better but I'll not argue the toss. ;)
