Is it just me . . .

. . . or does nature seem to have slowed down this year ? It's May, there are still trees without leaves and nothing is growing on my allotment.

It is a bit slow to get going isn't it? :D

But that's the British climate for you, after all we do live at a latitude what should give us tundra like conditions with long bitterly cold winters and short mild summers and yet we can support vineyards in the summer (when the weather is favourable obviously) and rarely suffer extremes of cold that Canadians (on the same latitude) experience.

I recall some equally cool seasonal spingtime extremes about forty years ago and yet people were complaining it was too hot just a decade or so back. ;)

Also, where I am, the weather seems it has to keep on changing it's mind! :)

I blame the jet stream. ;)

Thing is I recall some really quite abysmal weather back in the early to mid seventies that had scientists thinking we were heading for another ice age, caused by rising atmospheric CO2 levels.

Funny how it all turned out isn't it? :?

Was that not mostly the work of a hyper-active news media prone to blowing things out of proportion or running with a suggestion as though it were fact?

she is in vancover if i remember correct with her parents ( well at least according to her f/b status) :D

But you’re right with the climate change, i still think it’s just nature being nature. Although i do feel that the seasons don't really start when there meant to these days. Spring was always around March through to June, then summer to end of august (possible a late Indian summer till end of September), autumn through to December winter on until end of February but doesn’t seem that way now.
