You might experience issues if trying to use the words 'Star Trek' as part of any title.

Neat idea though, I'd like to see similar based in the Star Wars verse, perhaps far in the past when the Sith were many and the force was a much more potent thing like in KOTOR.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.

Oh definitely, any reference to 'Star Trek' as such would bring down massed hoardes of bloodthirsty lawyers, which is why we ended up with the likes of 'Deep Space Nine' and that other thing with 7of9 in it, oh what was it called? :?

Anyway, yes something similar within the Star Wars universe would be good, all we need is a talented young writer with a firm grasp of the subject and some time on their hands to make it a reality.

I wonder who that could be? hint hint.

Ah yes Voyager, a rework of Lost in Space, starring 7of9....... :?

A remake of Mad Max you say Willxx, albeit postponed!? It would be interesting to see where the Toyota Prius would fit into such a world wouldn't it? ;)

There was a group of folks who did an Indie Star Trek film a couple of years ago...

There are quite a few Star Trek and Star Wars fan films out there. I've not watched any, mind, so they might be utter pants.

. . . and I liked Voyager Shads!

The one based on the Cops format called Troopers which follows the men and women of the Tatooine Stormtroopers is quite good.

What about a remake of the 70's series "UFO"

The basic plot is:

The series is set in what would have been ten years in the future -- the early 1980's. It had been discovered that Aliens are coming to Earth and kidnapping people for unknown reasons. A secret military defense organization named SHADO ("Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation") is set up and is just becoming operational in the first episode.

SHADO's main headquarters is secretly hidden beneath a London film studio, and many SHADO personnel double as film studio employees as a cover. SHADO also has a base on the moon ("Moonbase") and a fleet of submarines ("Skydiver"). Incoming UFO's are detected by an Earth orbiting satellite ("Space Intruder Detector", or "SID"). An initial interception attempt is made in space with three Interceptors launched from Moonbase. A second attempt is made in the Earth's atmosphere with a fighter plane ("Sky One") launched from Skydiver. Landed UFO's are tracked down with ground Mobiles.

Some episodes contained very little ufo action which I felt added to the tension.

A remake could have better special effects (and maybe better acting)

Now that could be intersting. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's first live/animation outing, precursor to "Space 1999". It could certainly have legs, given the current trend for movies with "black hat" aliens.
The original had quite a good cast, Ed Bishop, George Sewell, Gabrielle Drake, Steven Berkoff, Shakira Baksh (latterly Mrs Michael Caine) and......
Wanda Ventham 'mnmnmnm... Image

As long as it doesn't end up like the execrable "Thunderbirds" movie. I always rather rated Jonathan Frakes as a director up until then.

OK, if you include some gorgeous females dressed in silver cat suits and purple wigs I'm on board with this one.

be interesting to see especially if they took a new line with it as they did with battlestar g. A updated version of he-man would be good to ( i have the powerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  ). a live version of thundercat although cat suits maybe a little dated ;)

watched close encounters last sunday on C5 and realised although a classic could it be re-done today would it be any better or would it end up like the remake of the day earth stood still and be a total failure :?:

I think its a crying shame when old stuff that was already good gets remade into rubbish to be honest, Tom Cruise's War of the Worlds springs to mind too and really Close Encounters should really be left well alone unless it was an exact word for word scene by scene update otherwise I'm pretty sure they would make a complete hash of trying to 'improve' it.

On a slightly different tack given that (one of my old favourites) Metropolis got cut to ribbons by idiotic cencorship I wouldn't mind seeing that redone but oh please sympathetically, with possibly Christopher Lloyd as Rotwang and Donald Sutherland and possibly someone Madonna-ish as Maria/robot (the 'real' Madonna being way too expensive obviously) but probably best go with an all new cast of unknowns anyway?

Oh and same goes for Forbidden Planet too. ;)

Hmmmm, I enjoyed War of the Worlds - not because of the Cruise though. And not as much as Jeff Wayne's version either! It wasn't a bad movie, however, there's a balance between story and special effects - at which the Transformers failed spectacularly - but which could improve some older movies.
