4. Which dinosaur was alive at the same time as humans?

Your Answer: No dinosaurs were alive
Dinosaurs and humans are separated by almost 60 million years (although their descendents the reptiles are still around....so now we all know movies like 1 million BC are totally bogus :0)

Reptiles are descendents of dinos?
I thought it was the other way around!

Surely birds are the only descendants of the dinosaurs?

Although many contemporaries are still around today of course.

I am pretty sure you are right Nails Crocodilians (which are most definitely Reptiles) pre-date Dinosaurs by many millions of years, and Birds are almost certainly the descendants of the Dinosaurs. ;)

No-one can be right all the time though. ;)

Talk about a late reply!

Thanks Pan, my daughter wants one as a pet but I'm not so keen.
Maybe a leopard gecko or something like!
Don't know how it would go down at home though, the sife HATES lizards, reptiles etc.

Anyhow, I only clicked back onto this thread to say
it's getting really quiet on the quiz, we need more people to join in!!

10. If a hammer and a feather were dropped at exactly the same height and at exactly the same time (on Earth) what would Galileo say you'd see happen?

Your Answer: that the hammer would hit the ground first
The correct answer was that the hammer and feather would reach the ground at the same time.

Given the question I would assume, that I should assume, that Earth is surrounded by air; air which would have an influence on the velocities of the falling objects. Maybe we should assume an airless Earth but that would be unreasonable methinks.

I can't accept the answer to the question. The hammer would hit first (hopefully it would hit a politician).

The fact that they specifically mention Galileo might be significant. Could the question be more asking of prevalent views in Galileo's time?
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.

Thing is Galileo did the experiment with two objects of different size but he didn't use a feather and a hammer he used a cannonball and musket shot, if memory serves (no, I wasn't there Lol) so the question master is at fault. ;)
