Was Israel the Birthplace of Modern Humans?

Postby Shadowwolf » Dec 31st, '10, 14:25

It has long been believed that modern humans emerged from the continent of Africa 200,000 years ago. Now Tel Aviv University archaeologists have uncovered evidence that Homo sapiens roamed the land now called Israel as early as 400,000 years ago -- the earliest evidence for the existence of modern humans anywhere in the world.

Though I would be inclined to put it differently, is the region currently called Israel the location of the earliest evidence so far for modern humans as opposed to birthplace.

Sounds a tad too biblical for my liking, but you never know. :?

It seems as though these modern humans where well travelled!
Perhaps they caught a bus back to Africa?
But because they hadn't yet invented the wheel it took them 200,000 years to get home, having to drive all the way on square tyres!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Lateralman. :D

Thing is, if they were square then they wouldn't technically be wheels at all? ;)

Only mere coincidence and the delightful garden was allegedly located elsewhere anyway.

well we are all genetically realated to a single Male and Female in Africa over 200,000 years ago, so if thi
is a homo sapien, it is one who has no living descendents surely!?

so technically we still came out of Africa...
