You see the rapture is going to occur in May 2011 with the world being destroyed a few months later in October of the same year, so the Mayans cannot possibly be right... 8-)

That would fit nicely with my solar sunspot cycle............ theory.......... thing.........

Settle ye all for I bring thee glad tidings of safeitude and stuff.

Apparently we are all safe and only the very young or the next generation need worry, for some bright spark has had a second look at the math used to convert the long count Mayan calendar into our one and discovered that 2012 is off. Off by somewhere between fifty and one hundred years apparently.

Amazing, usually they wait until after nothing happens to start making excuses for why nothing happened, however these guys are getting in before the punch.

Of course worse than this ground breaking research is why in the nine levels of hell a university professor of any stripe has not simply pointed out that the whole hooplah around the end 'o' the world, is complete and total bunkum more at home in a small muddy village just prior to the Norman invasion. Point out this erroneous assumption that has seized far too many folks and then say by the way, even the date is wrong were any doomsday coming, which it's not.

Oh and in fairness I suppose that the lad who discovered this could have pointed out the silliness of it all but that bit got left out by the report.

Depends if you adopt the UK system of day/month/year or the American one that has month/day/year in which case we have 10 days left. ;)
