There are quite a few Star Trek and Star Wars fan films out there. I've not watched any, mind, so they might be utter pants.

Hmmmm got me thinking (sorry was bored  )

STAR TREK

star trekTo Date Star Trek has over 40 million fans worldwide (40% recorded from America
But if there is justice in the world then the real number should be more like 6 billion.

oh yeah it should! thank you finally another trekkie! im not alone in the world

from here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_fans ... _Trek_have

STAR WARS

9 million in the united states and 999 billion in the rest of the world!

This isn't quite a "remake" and perhaps should be a new thread instead (?) but as I've just bought the Audible version of George RR Martins Wild Cards Volume 1 and Game of Thrones has been such a success I'd love to see the Wild Cards novels brought to the screen, I read the whole series when I was young and still think the concept is great!

They might be good and could hardly be worse than the faux sci-fi we currently have that are really just gussied up cop shows but Martin is not the author as such, more an editor of many authors. Thus it is unlikely to have the same form of cohesion that Game of Thrones has.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.

He wrote some of the early stories and created some of the regular characters but personally I found the different styles created by writers but still using the characters and the wild cards universe to be quite good

Well it probably would make a reasonable series in the right hands, of course, if there is no cop angle then it may not get the coverage or chance it deserves.
