Grandfather time travel paradox

Why are the grandparents always mentioned for this time travel paradox? Wouldnt it be the same result if you went back in time and killed your parents?? Nobody seems to mention parents, always the grandparents. Maybe some physicists just had some bad grandparents ;) I just cant see any difference.

Orientals, booze and evolution

Apparently many Orientals lack the enzyme that breaks down product of alcohol into something less toxic. As a result they cannot drink alcohol with violently throwing up, and are at a lower risk of liver disease. I was going to ask if they are more or less evolved, but then realised that that is a nonsense question, so instead, would you say it is a good genetic trait?

Devon Shipwreck Yields Bronze-Age Gold

Gleaming where it sank almost 3,000 years ago, a golden bracelet from the Bronze Age marks the site of one of the world's oldest shipwrecks, recently discovered off the coast of the United Kingdom. After-Shave

After I have used a new after-shave about five times, I have already become accustomed to the scent and can no longer detect it on myself. Im sure its the same with perfume for women. Is this more of a neurological reason (where the part of the brain responsible for smell is less active with the same scent) or a dermatological reason (where the skin becomes adapted to the molecules of the after-shave and thus ...

NASA's Chandra Reveals Origin of Key Cosmic Explosions

New findings from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory have provided a major advance in understanding a type of supernova critical for studying the dark energy that astronomers think pervades the universe. The results show mergers of two dense stellar remnants are the likely cause of many of the supernovae that have been used to measure the accelerated expansion of the universe.

Jurassic Space: Ancient Galaxies Come Together after Billions of Years

Imagine finding a living dinosaur in your backyard. Astronomers have found the astronomical equivalent of prehistoric life in our intergalactic back yard: a group of small, ancient galaxies that has waited 10 billion years to come together. These "late bloomers" are on their way to building a large elliptical galaxy.
