Warp Drive Tests In Johnston Space Center

According to an article in Space.com, a warp drive is not that far fetched a concept.

"Everything within space is restricted by the speed of light," explained Richard Obousy, president of Icarus Interstellar, a non-profit group of scientists and engineers devoted to pursuing interstellar spaceflight. "But the really cool thing is space-time, the fabric of space, is not limited by the speed of light."

With this concept, the spacecraft would be able to achieve an ...

Starting a business

My school is hosting an event for people who would like to start a business and I decided to participate with a group of friends. We have to think of a product and make a business plan (we dont neccessarily need to sell it). We had a few ideas but they dont seem to lead any where. I tried to do some stock/market research but I dont know what to look for. We dont have ...

Furthest object from earth

Please could someone let me know in miles the distance of the further known object from earth, which I believe is thought to be 13.2 (or 13.14?) billion light years away. I only want this to write down the number for a group of children, but cannot calculate it myself! Very many thanks

"Life Expectancy"

You often hear that the life expectancy of Stoneagers was about 30-40 years... Seems very young but I'm wondering what exactly is the meaning of this? Does it mean they tended to live until age 30 - 40?

Or that the infant mortality rate was so high that it severely dragged down the average age of death? (i.e. many people lived until 70 but just as many died aged 0)

Levitation

Everybody has heard about levitation, and the supposed ability of Budhist monks to do this when meditating. It turns out that what they are doing is "hopping", using their knees. In the 19th century, many mediums would claim this ability, and all were exposed as frauds. Houdini himself exposed a number of them. One particular medium, Eusapia Paladino, who was investigated by magicians and Nobel laureates, was never exposed. These are some interesting extracts from ...

The eye

Why has the vast majority of creatures only two eyes either forward facing for predators or off set for grasing animals! When more eyes giving a wider field of view would be a distinct advantage?

Reaching the peak

At what point will we evolve into some thing other than the human race if at all? What will they be called? Or have we reached absolute perfection without technical modification through our habitation, diet habits, and planet wide interbreeding. surly these factors are the principles behind evolution?

Evoloution

Does bacteria piggy back on orbiters, probes and rovers? If so could these bacteria and such evolve on other celestial body's? Tricking us into thinking that we found life on future space missions

Heisenberg Principle Challenged

The Heisenberg principle, which states that it's impossible to measure a particle without permanently changing it, is being challenged, with implications that will shake up quantum physics.

The principle has bedeviled quantum physicists for nearly a century, until recently, when researchers at the University of Toronto demonstrated the ability to directly measure the disturbance and confirm that Heisenberg was too pessimistic
