What do you think of the latest Focus?

book review: Lazarus Effect pg 104 May 2013

Time we defined "death" and "dead" better. There is no life after death yet we get many books and statements of people who have been "dead" and returned. It is certainly time to better define the death of a person.

Focus in Google Play

Hi,
Long time subscriber here.
Great to see Focus finally available for android in the play store.
I just wondered if there was any intention to make the digital version free to subscribers as I believe the iTunes content is?

It's getting some pretty lousy reviews at the moment because of this disparity.

problem with new version of Focus iPad app

Not sure which forum area was appropriate for this....

I have successfully been a digital subscriber for a few months via a subscription from buysubscriptions.com (not iTunes). On Friday I was prompted to update the app but after doing so have been unable to login via the app.
Have uninstalled and re-installed to no avail.
The app does not recognise my username/password even although I can log onto the buysubscriptions.com website and confirm that the ...

Crossword on the iPad app

Just had a go t the crossword on the iPad app on my wife's iPad. Great to see the crossword make I to the app but it really needs some work.
Entering answers is not very well sorted or intuitive, having to tap a new box for every letter entry( or the 'next' button for an across clue) is really messy. Also, as soon as you touch the backspace key all entered letters in the ...

The car that...runs on air

Future Cars, Issue 249, Dec. 2012, p 63.

The article "The car that...runs on air" claims that the car has "zero emissions" and that "only pure air" is emitted its exhaust pipe.

The car still has exhaust. The exhaust is from whatever engine is used to power the air compresor and the pump to move the compressed air into the vehicle.

The air compressor's power source is emitting the usual pollutants, some of which would ...

Registering on the forum.

I have just spent a considerable amount of time registering to use this forum. Primarily due to the utterly incomprehensible captcha "words". They were, generally, not words. Often the characters overlapped destructively. In addition, it said that registration would be human checked but that, meanwhile, there would be an immediate email. I waited for the email. Nothing. So I tried to register with a different username. This was rejected as the email address was in ...

Stratos space suit and the Columbia tragedy

"One Giant Leap" in the Summer issue cites at least twice how the Stratos space suit could have helped prevent the loss of life in the Columbia tragedy.

My recollection of the report on the accident is that the astronauts probably did not have enough time to have been able to have gotten on the suits. One or more of the astronauts may have perished while trying to get into their space suits.

The article ...

science crossword no1

Hello,
I apologise in advance if this is the wrong place to post this but here goes.
I started the science crossword in the latest issue of focus and noticed that the clue for 14 across is missing. How am I supposed to win the science book?

If anyone knows the CLUE could you pass it on

Thanks

Aaron

Letter of the month - Feb' 2012 issue

Hi guys

After reading Keith Atkin's Letter of the month 'A rational response' in the latest (Feb' 2012) issue of Focus, I thought I simply had to comment.

Keith seems upset at the fact that Focus *dared* to post an article about Robin Ince's 'Nine Lessons And Carols For Godless People', and Helen Pitcher's 'Tis the season to be jolly rational'. I'm guessing he found (or thinks others might find?) it insulting to poke fun ...
