So...125 GeV :?:

Definitely...maybe

If the Higgs Boson is glue then why didn’t they call it, The Paste Particle?

Anyhow, I think it is hard to find because it is an Atom Miser.

The Attach Atom. Creation Cement. God Glue.

Anyhow, how can it be a particle if it is holding the whole universe together?

They could have saved themselves a great deal of time and trouble by just messing about with a couple of fridge magnets. What is the invisible force that pulls and pushes them together eh?

You don’t need a Hadron collider to try that out at home. That is why I think the hidden particle is simply a mix of a weak form of magnetism, with a smidgeon of gravity thrown in.

I will be releasing the results of my experiments within the next couple of years.
Stay tuned.

'Particles' can be any size Lateral' indeed Newtonian mechanics uses the term to describe objects from the tiniest to the mightiest, and so if the Higgs Boson is observed it could turn out to seem very, very small in a 'physical' form as we comprehend it and yet have a huge 'field effect' influence on everything else. A bit like a tiny hole in piece of paper, which when held at arms length tells you nothing about the view ahead, but bring it right up to your eye and you can see, well not everything, but a whole lot more. :?

I'm sort of hoping its all just an illusion and it won't be found and everyone can get busy looking for something else. :D

That piece of paper with the hole analogy has blown my mind Mr Lloyd. I will be up all night thinking about that. Seriously, I find the thought very interesting.

The name the God Particle is wrong, everyone should have a crack at coming up with a new name.

To kick it off how about:

The Stick Particle. The Bond Particle. The Link Particle. The Missing Link Particle. The Fix Particle. The Amass Atom. The Pull Particle. The Veiled Particle. The Masked Molecule. The Power Particle. The Murky Molecule. The Produce Particle. The Cement Element. The Space Speck. The Stuff Particle. The Spirit Particle. The Dogma Particle. The Grab Particle. The Mega Molecule. The Naughty Bit.
For Christmas, The Party Particle.

Finally, my personal favourite. The Darn Particle, cos it has that double entendre, as we say up north.

Mr Lloyd! Is the hole in the paper or is the paper in the hole?

Neither, the hole goes through the paper. ;)

They have found signs of a new particle.
How do they know it is the one they are looking for?

A good point PeTastic.... I very much doubt it will have 'Higgs Boson' stamped on it. ;)

Ahh but the Higgs is as best I currently know expected to possess very specific properties and it is a particle exhibiting these properties that the folks at Cern seek.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.

I’m kind of hoping the higgs will be in my Christmas stocking. Or is the higgs my Christmas stocking?

Will the properties be sticky properties?
