The idea of life in the supposed subsurface seas of Europa probably isn't new to any of us on here, but now apparently the mainstream media have got hold of it. Quite interesting when watching the BBCs frozen planet at the moment, how adapatable life can be to such extreme environs.

Any of you think we'll find anything in Europa?

I think if we are going to find life anywhere then Europa is pretty good bet, but I'm not expecting anything especially complex.
Or at least nothing beyond, or even as diverse as what has been found around deep ocean hydrothermal vents or the more extreme parts of Antarctica.
However even a patch of primitive slimy bacteria would be a huge discovery with far reaching implications. ;)

If they find any life it will be as Mr M points out, a stunning discovery.

Simple bacteria would seem most likely but I suppose there is some chance for something a little more complex, though animals seem unlikely.
Hope is but the first step upon the road to disappointment.
