Does your alarm clock make you fat?

Postby King Random » May 14th, '12, 12:28

In the industrialized world, a conflict between two opposing forces — biology and the alarm clock — is helping to make people fat, new research suggests.

A discrepancy between the natural timing of sleep and work or school schedules leads to sleep deprivation, since people forced into schedules unnatural to them don't get enough sleep. And survey data indicates people with larger discrepancies are more likely to carry extra weight, according to the researchers.

Well? :?

Well yes... actually. I am inclined to agree.
I must admit I have not looked into the research but I have to say it does make a modicum of sense and I have longe believed that we should be allowed to sleep, wake and work when it suits us best.

As for myself I usually wake before my alarm is set and get an early start to my day from around 05:30am but I refuse to go into work on the early shift, even though I am up in ample time, because it does not suit my routine and I firmly believe that if I did (partly based on past experience) I would find myself wanting a second breakfast shortly after starting work and that would not be a good idea at all.

I do wonder whether having your normal sleep cycle disrupted is reponsible for unbalancing a persons overall metabolic rate?? ;)
